25-year-old Georgian becomes the best police officer of the month in New York
25 years old Georgian police officer Giorgi Eristavi has been working in police department of New York since June 2017. He works in the city where the crime rate is very high, hence every working day is quite stressful, but he loves his job. Giorgi is proud to take care of citizens' safety.

Georgian officer has recently participated in one of the successful operations. According to the rules of New York police department, he is not allowed to speak about
the details of the operation, but the joyful news is that on May 14 he was awarded the title of the best officer of the month of New York.

“When I heard that I was named the best officer of the month, of course I was full of positive emotions, because the encouragement and recognition is very important for the representatives of each profession, especially for the police officers,” notes Giorgi Eristavi.

Giorgi was born and raised in Georgia

Giorgi was born and raised in Georgia. In 2009, he moved to New Jersey, a state in the northeastern US and graduated from school there.

As he recalls, moving from Georgia to US was a big change for him, because he had to adapt to a completely new environment. Initially, Giorgi found himself in sports.

“Changing the place of residence and moving to a foreign country is not easy for the teenager, but football helped me to get through it. I was playing in school team in New Jersey and it was where I experienced the first success – for the first time in history, we became the champions of the state! It was a big achievement for the school and we joyfully celebrated this important success,” Giorgi elaborates.

He Moved from New Jersey to Manhattan and continued his studies there

He Moved from New Jersey to Manhattan and continued his studies there. Young Georgian officer is interested in international security issues and political sciences. Subsequently, after moving to Manhattan, he continued his studies at the Criminal Law School, where he studied criminal law and psychology.

Due to his busy working schedule, Giorgi rarely manages to visit his homeland

“After graduating from the college, I continued my studies at the New York Police Academy. At this stage, I am the officer at the New York Police Department. In future, I want to become a detective and in parallel, I want to obtain master’s degree in international security and political sciences,” notes Giorgi Eristavi.

Giorgi’s family is very proud of his success in the US. As Giorgi’s mother, Tamuna Eristavi notes, her son is “very modest and he does not like to talk about his achievements much.”

He still thinks about returning to Georgia somewhere in the future

Due to his busy working schedule, Giorgi rarely manages to visit his homeland, but he still thinks about returning to Georgia somewhere in the future. At this stage, his main goal is to continue broaden his knowledge and advance his qualification.
