Plastic bottle collector and feeding machines for stray animals to be installed in Tbilisi
Tbilisi City Hall is working on reducing environmental damage caused by plastic bottle remains and comes up with an initiative to set up plastic bottle collector machines in the city.

“Plastic bottle recycling machines will be installed in Georgia’s capital,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated at governmental meeting on May 24.

According to Kakha Kaladze, the above-mentioned idea has been suggested the City Hall by Tbilisi
citizen, within the frames of the project “Your Idea for Tbilisi Mayor”. The project has been launched this year.

"Installing plastic bottle collector machine is one of the most exciting ideas and we will gladly implement it ”, Kaladze said.

As Tbilisi Mayor noted, the above-mentioned project is in compliance with the waste management strategy, which is determined by the Association Agreement signed between Georgia and the European Union.

"We have already started working on this idea and we are implementing it step by step. We want to install bins in every district of Tbilisi in cooperation with the private sector, which is willing to get involved in the process of recycling the plastic bottles. In my opinion, this is quite interesting and important project”, said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.

Special litter bins for plastic bottles are already installed in Georgia’s western city of Kutaisi.

Tbilisi city hall accepted yet another suggestion from a citizen of Tbilisi within the frames of the project “Your Idea for Tbilisi Mayor". The idea suggests installing vending machines for stray animals in the city.

“We are going to implement this project this year. Several feeding machines for animals will be installed throughout the city. The animal agency will take care of them.

Besides the fact that the idea has been built on taking care of animals, it will foster more citizens to get involved in the process of feeding animals. I am very happy that our citizens have such interesting ideas and projects,” said Tbilisi Mayor.

Tbilisi City Hall launched the website idea.tbilisi.gov.ge in order to receive interesting and beneficial ideas from Tbilisi citizens in February 2018. There are 13 categories on the website and anyone can vote for particular project based on one’s preference.
