Minibus carrying kids on excursion falls into ravine claiming several lives

A minibus, taking schoolchildren on excursion from Tbilisi, fell into ravine on Gombori mountain pass, a road to Kakheti Region, eastern Georgia. At least two children died and several others were injured due to the accident. The rescue operation is underway. Emergency and patrol police crews are mobilized on the spot.

According to the latest data, the number of the deceased has increased to 4. In
total, up to 20 people are injured as a result of the accident.

Those injured in the accident were taken to Telavi (the cetre of Georgia’s Kakheti Region) hospital. The mini-bus which fell in the ravine has already been taken out.

An investigation has already been launched under section 7, Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to the violation of transport exploitation rules, which caused the death of two or more people.

Traffic movement to Tbilisi is prohibited due to the road accident at Gombori Highway. The patrol police do not allow cars to move through the Gombori road.
