New collection for 2019 by Georgian designer David Koma

On June 2018 London based Georgian designer David Koma presented his new collection for 2019. Women’s Wear Daily published an article reviewing Koma’s new costumes.

It appears that “Koma mixed subtle Eighties references with his signature graphic lines and flair for modernism”.

In spite of the fact, that new collection is influenced by the style of the Eighties, Koma managed to stand out in his interpretation and make it his own by blending subtle
Eighties references — a puff sleeve here, a crystal-embellished zip there — with his signature graphic lines and flair for modernism, says the article.

It is also said, that Koma re-created his popular minidresses with curved, sporty necklines and ultra-thin shoulder straps. He also added a generous dose of sparkle with oversize crystals, silver sequins and Plexiglass.

The article emphasizes, that Koma is starting to explore daywear with a bold and daring approach for women who take power dressing seriously. “Standouts included a black denim-twill mini dress featuring oversize shoulders and gathered sleeves and body-hugging leather pencil skirts”.

David Koma is very famous among celebrities all around the world. Apart from actresses, he made a dress for the US presidential family – Ivanka Trump wore a very sexy, blue dress by Koma on January 2018 on at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, on New Year’s Eve event.

David Koma or Davit Komakhidze was born in Tbilisi. He graduated in 2009 with a distinction in MA Fashion from Central Saint Martins in London after studying and completing his BA in Fashion Womenswear in 2007.

David showcased his first collection at the age of 15 after studying Fine Art in Saint Petersburg. David moved to London in 2003.

Koma was the Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Merit Award winner 2009.
