Successful Georgian female musicians recognized worldwide

Georgia might be known for its delicious cuisine and breathtaking tourist destinations, but what you might not know is that Georgia has some of the most talented musicians out there.
Take Katie Melua for instance. With her extraordinary voice Katie was discovered at the age of 15. Britain’s most successful recording artist Katie released her first album “Call of the Search” in 2003 and just three years later she became one of the biggest selling recording artist in Europe. She has
sold more than 11 million albums worldwide, 11 million concert tickets and has received 56 platinum awards making her the most successful recording artist from Georgia.

Next up on the list is a woman often referred to as the “Penélope Cruz of the Opera.” Nino Surguladze is a worldwide known Georgian Mezzo-soprano. She grew up in Tbilisi where she won a prize at the Francisco Viñas International singing contest in Barcelona which earned her scholarship to Accademia Teatro alla Scala. This opened up a lot of doors for her career. In 2015 she was granted the Star of Italy title by the Italian president. In spring of 2016 Nino was awarded the GBOSCAR of the 2014 – 15 opera season titled as the best mezzo-soprano.

Earning a name for herself Nina Sublatti got recognized worldwide with the song “Warrior” which she performed at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. She was announced as one of the five contestants competing to represent Georgia. Following after the grand finale of the Eurovision contest her song “Warrior” charted across Europe. Top 50 in Ireland, Top 40 in Ukraine and Top 30 in Russia.
