Georgia joins “Clean Up The World” campaign
13 September, 2018
Georgia has joined the “Clean up the World” campaign 2018. According to the Georgian Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources Protection, clean up activities will be organized in all parts of Georgia between the 15th-16th of September. The campaign’s slogan for this year is “Reduce Plastic Pollution”.

The campaign was launched in 1993 by The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). It is a non-government apolitical event that unites communities in order to protect the environment. They support local groups to
organize various activities to clean up, fix up and conserve the environment.

The campaign in Georgia is supported by the government of Sweden, the Georgian Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources Protection and the Green Movement of Georgia. Georgia has been involved in the campaign since 2010. The campaign unites more than 130 countries.

Public involvement in such activities, raising awareness and redefining habits in this regard are very important. Caring for the environment is everyone’s duty.” – said the secretary of the Georgian Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources Protection.
