“Ironbark” will star Georgian actor Merab Ninidze with Benedict Cumberbatch

Famous Georgian actor Merab Ninidze will appear in Dominic Cooke’s film “Ironbark”. The film will star Avengers: Infinity War and Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress Rachel Brosnahan. It is based on real events telling how the British spy Wynne helped the CIA penetrate the Soviet nuclear programme during the Cold War. Ironbark is scheduled to be released in 2019.

Merab Ninidze is a well-known Georgian actor. He has won international recognition
for his roles in famous films, notably Nowhere in Africa (2001), Bumazhnyy soldat (2008) and Bridge of Spies (2015).

In Georgia, Ninidze is known for his role in the drama film Repentance (1984) by Tengiz Abuladze. He is also starred in Hostages (2017), directed and written by Rezo Gigineishvili and co-written with Lasha Bugadze. It was screened in the Panorama section at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. The film is based on true story and tells about Georgian youngsters attempting to hijack a plane in 1983.
