Two people have been detained in connection with the tragic incident in the Didi Dighomi district of Tbilisi
- Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said at the briefing held at the governmental administration.
"The biggest tragedy occurred two days ago, when the gas leakage killed four people, including a child. I express my condolences to the families of the deceased. I had earlier ordered the law enforcement agencies to conduct investigative actions in
the shortest possible time and identify the cause of the tragedy. I was notified a few minutes ago that two people have been detained. The investigation is in progress and I assure you that all the people who will be identified in connection with this tragedy will be held responsible," Bakhtadze said.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two persons have been detained with regard to the explosion caused by natural gas leakage in the Didi Dighomi district of Tbilisi.
According to the statement, the detainees are employees of the KazTransGas Company - V.M., born in 1957, and T.T., born in 1991. They checked the building several hours before the explosion, after they had been called by the residents of the building.
“KazTransGaz specialists – V.M. and T.T. improperly checked the building and told the residents that the smell that they suspected to be of gas was actually of paint. The explosion came a few hours after the specialists left, leaving 4 people dead”, reads the statement.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia continues investigation into the incident under Articles 240 and 220 of the Criminal Code. According to the Ministry, after the conduct of forensic, technical and other examinations, all persons involved in the case will be identified and all necessary measures will be taken.
