There is a dispute between members of Bagrationi family in Georgia, but why?
To understand it we need to remember small story.
Members of the Georgian royal family Ana Bagration-Gruzinski and Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli got married in the Sameba Cathedral on the 8th of February in 2009. Thus, two branches of the Bagrationi dynasty united. It was said that at the time the Georgian church supported the idea of establishing constitutional monarchy in Georgia and an heir who could unify two brunches
of the Georgian royal family could also become monarch of Georgia.
But it did not happen like this. On the contrary, the couple got divorced and the plans about constitutional monarchy in Georgia were forgotten. It was also said that Ana Bagration-Gruzinski and Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli used to often quarrel and the reason for that was following:
Ana Bagration-Gruzinski and her father Nugzar accuse Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli in misappropriating the royal name.
It is not the first time Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli finds himself in the center of media. In 2017 Daily Mail wrote about him and how he breached protocol by presenting golden ceremonial chain to Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom.
“The gift was presented not by a foreign head of state – as tradition dictates – but by Crown Prince Davit” – reads the article by Daily Mail.
Now it is up to Tbilisi city court to solve the dispute.
