Saudi sisters have been offered help in Georgia

Two sisters from Saudi Arabia released a video saying that they have arrived in Georgia to seek asylum. 28-year-old Maha and 25-year-old Vafa Al-Subaia claimed they needed protection.

We need the country that will protect our rights and grant us asylum,” the sisters said.

According to the young women, they have fled from their family where they were oppressed. The sisters said their father and brothers arrived from Saudi Arabia to Georgia to take them back.

The sisters have been offered help
by The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Representatives of the Migration Department of the Ministry visited and offered assistance and security guarantees to the women. They agreed to undergo necessary procedures on asylum seeking as stipulated by Georgian legislation. According the Ministry, those family members the women said were pursuing them are not in Georgia at the moment.
