"Times Square is Deserted Now"- Georgian Citizen in New York about Lockdown
The new coronavirus center of epidemic moved from Europe to the US. The United States outpaces Italy and China in the number of cases . According to the latest data, the total number of infected in the United States reached 104,256 with the death toll reaching 1632.

Georgian actress Mari Peikrishvili lives in the US from 2015 and as she says the epicenter of the epidemics is considered to be in New York, where she lives. The coronavirus outbreak changed a
lot there. Times Square which was visited by 400,000 tourists daily is completely deserted.

"New York was always the epicenter of the events, but this is too dramatic. I believe that together we will overcome everything and the government is doing all it can to combat the virus. Several hospitals have already been built and it is also planned to transform some universities and institutions into hospitals.

However, there are many challenges with receiving the patients. They have established a new way of testing for the virus. Now you can be tested without leaving your car, for example. What I like is that people try to help each other.

Leaving the house is allowed only in case of an emergency. As for the groceries, the queues are very organized and everyone tries to distance themselves from each other. Moreover, the state granted $2 trillion to its citizens.

I think that everything happens for a reason and all this is for our awakening. We are so caught up in this world of aggression, beating ourselves up, jealousy and all those negative feelings that we have forgotten that there are more important things in the world than this materialistic approach. We tend to forget to be grateful and to value each other more."

Mari Peikrishvili has taken part in various commercials and movies in New York, but as she says everything is either canceled or delayed now.

"I try to have time for myself and for my family now because based on my working regime, I did not have time for all these things before. Also, I try to be productive during the self-isolation by spending time with my nephew, reading books, watching movies, exercising and cooking. Being at home is not easy, but I also realize that by staying at home I take care of my health.

The people are in a panic here and seeing everyone in face-masks and gloves makes me feel like I am in a movie."- Mari Peikrishvili says.
