Social & Psychological Factors of Management (Business Development in Georgia)

Dr. Tinatin Asatiani is a well-established Georgian social psychologist, Ph.D. in Business Economics and Management, who has recently presented to the nation her new work in the field of Business Engineering. Having acquainted myself with this extremely interesting piece of scientific research, I came to belief that the inculcation of the ideas presented in the work will decidedly be expeditious for the Georgian economy as a whole. Following is the synopsis of Tinatin’s newly-baked work which in its most compact form

gives a perfect idea of the role of socially and psychologically correct and justifiable human behavior in the process of Georgia’s economic development.

“Business and economics in Georgia develop in complex social and political environment. Industrial and business organizations are working in permanently changing and unpredictable environment. Economic crisis, its risks and threats are obvious throughout the globalization all over the world. In this situation it is extremely important to pursue the sustainable economic development of the country. Thus, optimization of existing resources and search for innovative techniques are vital. Engineering and re-engineering as innovative approach and technique gains huge importance as fundamental re-thinking and re-design of organizations existing resources. One of the most important elements of business engineering is a process approach within which the objects of management make up an ongoing business processes. For such transformation, innovative approaches and resources are needed. Human resources and social-psychological processes have to be considered as crucial components of successful business development too.
Vivid interest for the exploration of the social and psychological dimensions of management as complementary factors and resources emerged at the beginning of the twentieth century. Nowadays, they have turned into an important key to the secrets of economic growth and business development. Initially, personality factors of human resources were right in the focus of business managers and consultants.
Today, in western and post-soviet countries, including Georgia, HR management is concentrated on personality as well as social relationships among the people. The solid part of managers’ functions is connected with effective communication, group management, decision making, crisis management and other social-psychological processes. Awareness rising and effective management of those processes could be the guarantee of success for modern business leaders.
Despite the fact that there is a galore of information in the fields of HR management and organizational psychology in Georgia, we discovered a lack of consistent academic research in the field of behavioral economics and social-psychological drivers of business management, based on practical experience and international theoretical achievements.
Goal and objectives of research has paramount importance. The main goal here is to establish and analyze the role of social and psychological drivers in innovative business-process management. The intention is to develop a complementary methodological basis and operational tools dedicated to further propulsion of sustainable economic development in Georgia. For the purpose of the research the following objectives were set: Exploration of the theoretical research of psychological factors and approaches in management; Clarification of the notions related with management and business processes; Exploration of the theoretical basics of re-engineering as a technique and its practical approaches; Finding out more about the successful experiences of developed countries and their adaptation to Georgian reality; Elaboration of methodological basis of change management, problem and conflict resolution and approbation of methods.
From the viewpoint of scientific innovation, Dr. Asatiani is attaching serious importance to the following factors: social-psychological aspects of management in Georgia and its crucial significance in business development, modern approaches and connected psychological factors, sense of urgency of engineering and re-engineering processes and the essence of appropriate psychological factors, instruments and models, identification of new priorities in accordance with the economic developmental goals and objectives of the country, creation of new approaches and techniques in group management, methodological and practical aspects and instruments of process management,  innovative interconnections, social-psychological modeling and implementation, creation and development of conceptual approaches. The study of theoretical foundations and information base means a lot as well”.
Nota Bene by NBR:
The work is based on a survey of the primary sources and literature, existing in Georgia and in other countries (digital and printed), as well as analysis and synthesis of personal practical experiences and discoveries of the author. It is addressing those vital challenges that Georgia and many other countries face due to the world economic crises and unstable economic situation in the region.
What seems extremely important though is that innovative works like this one should not be restricted to shelf life but given a green light right into the nation’s economic future. Progress is possible only if we manage to turn every healthy idea into a practicable piece of work, generating wealth. Dr. Tinatin Asatiani’s new work is definitely a concrete example of this kind of attitude to our economic endeavor in general.
