Join Wings for Life World Run in Kakheti, Georgia
Wings for Life is an international not-for-profit spinal cord research foundation. Its mission is to find a cure for spinal cord injury. WFL funds world-class scientific research and clinical trials around the globe aimed at healing the injured spinal cord.

Wings for Life World Run has been launched in 2014. It was a global running event, which saw thousands of athletes start at the very same time in 34 locations around the globe, generated €3.2 million at first year and
€4,2 million the second year, to foster promising spinal cord research projects. Donations to the Wings for Life are made permanently but the World Run is the biggest fund raising campaign one could ever imagine. It is extremely important to have non-stop researches because millions of people all over the world are waiting that their lives will change.

Georgia has joined the World Run from the very beginning. In 2015 it had 5000 registrations. It also had the third biggest team in the world with 550 members. Also we took interest of the world with our oldest participant, a 92 year old Shota Samushia who ran 3,61kilometers and plans to run even more this year.

World Run is the first run where there is no set distance or time. What is more interesting is that there is no finish line one has to reach. The Catcher Car, which is a moving finish line, chases the runners and as soon as it passes them by their run is ended. There is a tradition that in most of the countries the Catcher Cars are driven by Formula 1 drivers. In Georgia Dato Kajaia, our fastest driver, will do his best to drive slowly: starting from 15km/h and by the end of the race with 35km/h, until he catches the last running person.

All this gives everyone a chance to take part in a global sports event. All you need is to be 18 year old. No matter whether you are a professional runner or a beginner. Besides that, wheelchair participants will race together with everyone else.

There are lots of amazing things about the Wings for Life world Run to tell. But it’s better to join this global event and be at the start line with the whole world to reach one same goal: make spinal cord injury curable.

Don’t miss May 8, Kakheti – one of the most beautiful running locations in the world.
