Dinamo Arena to host historic match between Georgian Rugby Team and French Barbarians on May 31
Georgian Rugby Team, nicknamed as The Lelos, will play against French Barbarians (The Barbarian Rugby Club) on May 31. The game will start at 20:00 (local time). The historic match will be held at the Dinamo Arena, the largest stadium of Georgia located in Tbilisi.

It is noteworthy that the match was organized on the basis of a cooperation memorandum between Georgia and France Rugby Union.

“We wanted to devote this game to them, as a gift. French people supported our decision and subsequently , we will play against French Barbarians’ strong team on May 31” – Gocha Svanadze elaborated.

Bernard LaPorte, President of the French Rugby Union, expressed his respect toward Georgian rugby and spoke about the importance of the upcoming match:

"Georgia occupies an important place in international rugby and hence, the French Rugby Union has accepted the offer with great pleasure to hold this match. I know that these two incomparable teams respect and share same values , they love their profession and commit themselves to this type of sport. It does not matter how the game will end, they will still share respect and love between each other” - President of the French Rugby Union noted.

The Barbarian Rugby Club, more commonly known as the French Barbarians, is a rugby union team formed in 1979 in France.

It was founded as an amateur invitational team modeled on the Barbarian F.C.

From the start of the 2017–18 season, the French Barbarians claimed the title of second national team of the French Rugby Federation.

The French Barbarians play in sky, navy and royal blue hooped jerseys. As with the original Barbarians, players retain the socks from their "home" club strip.

One of the most recent matches was against the Argentina national team (Los Pumas) in early 2007, as part of their preparation for the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

While in 2008 they beat Canada in Victoria. They played with Argentina at Vélez Sársfield in Buenos Aires on 20 June 2009 as part of the mid-year test series, and lost 32–18.

They do have one of the strongest squad in the world. In 2016 the French Barbarians defeated Australia XV by 19–11 in their first match against an Australian side for over twenty years. And in late 2017 they beat the Māori All Blacks 19–15 in the Autumn internationals, which was the first time playing that side.
