Georgian Ozeki Tochinoshin awarded honorary citizenship of Mtskheta
Georgian Ozeki and world-famous sumo wrestler Levan Gorgadze (Tochinoshin) was granted the title of honorary citizen of Mtskheta, a historic city Georgia.The Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, Zaza Gabunia held the meeting with renowned Georgian sumo wrestler Levan Gorgadze (Tochinoshin) in Mtskheta City Hall.

“I am happy to have an opportunity to meet the person who made history in Japan. As Georgian citizen, I am very grateful to him and excited with
his success,. I am proud of the titles he earned. Today, he represents Georgia in Japan”, -Zaza Gabunia stated.

Tochinoshin, (Levan Gorgadze) has been granted honorary citizenship Mtskheta for his achievements in Sumo, at the initiative of Mtskheta Single Mandate MP, Dimitri Khundadze.

The meeting was also attended by Mtskheta-Mtianeti Governor, Levan Zautashvili, Chair of Mtskheta City Assembly, Gela Bakradze and other officials of Mtskheta Municipality.

“The words devoted to me, written by my Georgian fans, often bring me to tears - I want to thank the whole nation for their great support,”Tochinoshin stated after the meeting with his fans held at Caucasus University.

“I am so happy to see so many smiling faces here. The whole nation supported me during the Natsu Basho Tournament. I have watched many videos and read many kind words, which honestly made me stronger. The words written on social network by my Georgian fans even brought me to tears many times. I am thanking the whole nation for their great support and love,” Tochinoshin said.

As for the additional responsibilities after claiming Ozeki (the second highest rank after the title of Yokuzuna - invincible champion) title, as Levan explained, from now on he will have twice as more responsibilities than before.

“It is a very complex topic and I cannot tell you the whole story now, but I know that I will have twice as much responsibilities after claiming Ozeki title than I had before. I will try to fulfill my duties at best in accordance with Sumo traditions.. ,” stated Tochinoshin.

During the meeting, Levan Gorgadze answered his Georgian fans’ questions , signed autographs and took pictures.
