CNN: Graham Rowntree and Milton Haig about Georgian Rugby
Graham Rowntree, a former English rugby player and a current forwards coach of the Georgian National Rugby Team speaks about Georgian rugby in the CNN’s one of the recent articles. The article reads that the coach would be surprised few things when it comes to rugby but his career in Georgia proved otherwise.

Georgia is believed to have been preparing one of the biggest and brawniest forwards the game has to offer. But Rowntree was still taken aback by Georgian players’
strength.

"I'll be sat on a bike in the corner and I can't believe how much weight they can lift. I've never seen anything like it," says the coach.

According to the article, Rowntree has always been an admirer of Davit Kubriashvili, Georgian rugby union player.

"I felt like a small child shaking his hand when I met him in October. To work with him was special. But the set piece, the scrum and the maul, I've been a fan of how Georgia operate."

Despite impressive growth, Rugby in Georgia is a young sport. The Lelos have achieved a big success “winning six of the last seven Rugby Europe Championship titles against the likes of Germany, Russia, Spain, and Belgium, with Romania providing the stiffest opposition”.

Meanwhile, the forwards' coach talks about Georgians and the capital of Georgia Tbilisi. He thinks Tbilisi is a mixture of old and modern architecture and people are very warm, hardworking and proud there. Rowntree is very impressed with Georgian restaurants and wines.

Milton Haig, a head coach of the team believes that if he and others engaged in the sport will introduce the game more properly to Georgians, they will understand that New Zealand is a small country of the same population. By understanding that, they will be able to beat them.

As for the upcoming World Cup, the Georgian team is working on their catch-pass skills and developing a tactical kicking game as their style has at times become predictable.

The author of the article says a few words about the nickname of the national team as well. The nickname Lelo is related to lelo burti, a traditional Georgian game similar to rugby. Besides, the article reads that Bidzina Ivanishvili, former prime minister of Georgia has invested a lot in the development of Georgian rugby.
