BBC remembering Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili
"This coming week marks the 10th anniversary of the death of the Olympics of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili."- BBC publishes an episode remembering Nodar. On the 12th February 2010, the eve of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili suffered a fatal crash whilst on a practice run – just hours before the opening ceremony was due to take place.

Terrance Kosikar was the first responder on the scene. Whilst he had been trained to save people’s lives throughout
his career, he was never prepared for the emotional trauma of dealing with a fatality. Terrance went into a downward spiral as he suffered from post-traumatic stress syndrome and severe depression, which led to him trying to take his own life on several occasions. But thankfully he found a way out – through the great outdoors. Terrance now runs the Camp My Way project in Canada, which takes people suffering from similar mental health issues on camping adventures in the Canadian mountains. In the episode, Terrance talks about what he remembers of that tragic day 10 years ago and how the Camp My Way initiatives and his other campaigns are helping to continue Nodar's legacy.

"The toughest part about that accident was the emotional impact that it had on myself. It is looking in your patient's eyes, watching the tears of the family and knowing that seven billion people were affected by this and not understanding why my emotions started getting the best of me through my sleep, my nightmares. We are trained for many years to help the public, to help save lives, protect our communities but never in any of our training are we trained to deal with our emotions that happens after we can't save our patient's life. The toughest part for me was that you have to show up the next day for work."- Terrance Kosikar says in the BBC episode

Nodar Kumaritashvili was a Georgian luge athlete who suffered a fatal crash during a training run for the 2010 Winter Olympics competition in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, on the day of the opening ceremony. He became the fourth athlete to die during preparations for a Winter Olympics, and the seventh athlete to die in either a Summer or Winter Olympic Games.
