At least 78 people were killed and over 130 wounded after two suicide bombers blew themselves up outside an Anglican church in the city, Euronews reports.
The protesters directed their anger at the police, complaining of the lack of security at the church.
The bombers timed their explosives to go off as worshipers were attending Sunday Mass.
The dead and injured were rushed to the local hospital. At least half of the victims were women and children.
Islamist violence has been on the rise in Pakistan in past months, undermining Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s efforts to subdue the insurgency by launching peace talks with the Pakistani Taliban.
A Taliban-linked militant group the TTP Jundullah has claimed responsibility, Euronews informs.
