Ukrainian artist Daria Marchenko has used 5,000 spent bullet cases to create a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin , called “The Face of War”. The work took over four months to complete.

“The war is full of human lives, which are like cartridge cases. If people remember this, if people who came to Ukrainian lands with aggression remember this, the war will be no more,” the artist explains.

The uniqueness of this portrait lies in its ability to transform.
The portrait’s facial expressions and character change depending on the angle from which the light falls upon it.

The cartridge cases the portrait is made of were collected by volunteers from sites near Donetsk airport and other battlefields in eastern Ukraine.
