Three explosions reported at the metro stations in Brussels

Belgian media is reporting that an explosion has been heard at Maalbeek metro station.
Maalbeek is about 400m from the Berlaymont building, which houses the European Commission headquarters.

Other reports suggest there were explosions at the Arts-Loi and Schuman stations.

The Brussels metro system has been shut down and the country has raised its threat level to 4.

At least 11 people died and dozens more have been injured in two explosions that went off near to an American Airlines
desk at Zaventem Airport just after 8 this morning.

The Belga News Agency reported that gunshots were fired beforehand and shouting in Arabic was heard, the Mirror says.
