One member of criminal group arrested and three killed - Latest updates
One member of the criminal group remains arrested while the other three were killed during the special operation, Georgia’s State Security Service reports.

‘The special operation organized by Georgia’s State Security Service has been completed at Gabriel Salosi Street, Tbilisi. One member of the criminal group remains arrested while the other three criminals were killed. Unfortunately, the special operation has claimed the life of one representative of the Security Service. Two employees were wounded. Two representatives of the Special Errands
Department of Georgia’s Interior Ministry have also been injured,’ the State Security Service press-office head Nino Giorgobiani has reported.

As reports say the criminal band members were no Georgian citizens. They were observed for several weeks. All relevant measures for their identification are underway within the framework of international anti-terrorist cooperation, aimed at finding out the criminal links,’ She has added.

Nino Giorgobiani has offered her condolences to the deceased employee’s family.

On behalf of the State Security Service of Georgia we would like to thank all our employees, special squad members and police officers who risked their own lives and protected our citizens. We also thank the population for cooperation with the law enforcers,’ Nino Giorgobiani has declared.

The special operation was launched late night to detain the suspects allegedly for links with terrorist organization ISIS, - unofficial reports say.

In the special operation, conducted by State Security Service at Beri Gabriel Salosi Street in Tbilisi, employees of the Special Tasks Department, Tbilisi Police Department and Patrol Police were involved as well as fire-rescuers of Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. All of the mentioned units operated within the field of their authority, - reads the official statement released by Georgia’s Interior Ministry.
